Tickets to SGHT fundraiser at RGS on Tuesday 10 November 2009

On 10th November 2009 SGHT will hold a very special event at the Royal Geographical Society in London. TV Wildlife Presenter Nigel Marven will give a lecture on his time at South Georgia filming the Penguin Safari TV series entitled "Filming Penguins and Pipits in South Georgia - how do you do that?"

Nigel will give a fascinating account of how he and his film team managed to film penguins, prions and albatrosses on the remote island of South Georgia at amazing locations like Bird Island and St Andrews Bay, and how they filmed the birth of a baby elephant seal, all accompanied by footage from the series.

Before the talk there will be a reception in the Map Room of the RGS in the presence of the Patron of SGHT, HRH The Princess Royal. At the reception you can enjoy a drink and view an exhibition of the best of South Georgia art before attending Nigel Marven's lecture in the Ondaatje Lecture Theatre.

The timetable for the event is:

6.00pm    Reception in the Map Room and preview of art in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal.

7.00pm  Illustrated Talk in the Ondaatje Lecture Theatre

8.30pm    Viewing of South Georgia art
