South Georgia is one of nature's paradises with a rich historical heritage.

The Trust - promotes for the public benefit, the conservation and protection of the physical and natural environment and surrounding waters of South Georgia - and advances the education of the public in the island's historical heritage.

The SGHT Habitat Restoration project will save native birds from extinction and increase by millions the numbers of endangered seabirds on South Georgia. Support the recovery of South Georgia's birds by donating here to this groundbreaking work.

Lt Cdr Malcolm Burley RN MBE,who led the Combined Services expedition in 1964/65, sadly passed away on 23rd August. A memorial service will take place St. Michael's, Peasenhall, on September 1, 2010, at 2.00 p.m.

The South Georgia Habitat Restoration Project is now formally underway! Following public consultation on our plans, the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (GSGSSI) gave consent for the Project to start fieldwork next season -February/March 2011.Read more about this decision and the timing of the Habitat Restoration project here.
